"I paint flowers so they will not die." - Frida Kahlo

Flowers are such a big part of many special occasions, especially weddings. But sadly they're one of the few things that don't last. I don't know how many bouquets I've let sit in a vase for far too long because I'm just not ready to give them up, but clearly it's time for them to go.

It all started with making a painting of my wedding bouquet for my mom as a Mother's Day gift. She's the one who made all of the floral arrangements for our wedding. While I have the dried bouquet sitting on my kitchen table, it's just not the same because it's lost all of the volume and color that it once had. But the painting doesn't fade and it holds onto the whimsical and magical feeling of the bouquet in a way that a photograph never could.

I love working with florists and brides to help preserve their beautiful wedding bouquets. Or if you have an idea for another flower related painting that you'd love to have, contact me so we can get started on creating a work of art together. I'm also taking commission work for illustrated reciepes.
