Adored by Alex | Houston Blogger

Since moving to Houston, I've been able to have some different photographing experiences. One of them being, working with blogger Alex, from Adored by Alex. Coming from a small town, the whole "blogger thing" was just a distant thought, but now that I live in a big city, bloggers abound. And I have to say, photography bloggers is by far one of my favorite subjects to photograph (with high school seniors in a very close 2nd). It's so fun getting to focus on outfit details, and working to find a location that works best with each outfit. Each of the first 5 outfits were all photographed during the same session and each location was all within one block of a street. It really stretched my creativity, and I loved it.

If you're a blogger in Houston, or you happen to know a blogger in Houston, and you're in need of photos for your blog, I'd love to work with you! Just shoot me an email at laurajanephotography@gmail.com!

The Philips & Extended Family

Working with a large family is always so much fun. There are so many different personalities to capture, and now matter how large the family is each one manages to shine through. On a super warm April day, we met up at one of Houston's funnest murals, The Sugar and Cloth Color Wall.
I loved getting to know these lovely people, and capturing all of their unique relationships.

Maya | Class of 2016

I've known Maya for quiet some time (I'm pretty sure since she was a little 2nd grader). Over the years, I've had the pleasure of watching her grow up into a beautiful young woman. A few years ago, I was the leader of her middle school small group at church, and then I was able to be with that group as they moved into high school. Maya told me that she's be dreaming of having me take her senior photos since she started high school, and was so excited that it was finally her senior year. We spent a gorgeous summer day traveling to various locations around Nazareth to find the perfect lighting background. And we even ended the session with some ice cream at the local ice cream shop.

Danika & Craig | Engagement

Danika and Craig are good friends of mine from church. They both moved to join the Hopesprings family from Colorado about 2 years ago. When they got engaged, Danika asked me to photograph them. It was so much fun spending an afternoon with them wandering around our friend's large property. At the time of this session, I didn't know either of them too well, but over the past few years, I've gotten to spend more time getting to know Danika, and I just love being able to have her as a friend. I love how sweet these two are together and how obviously they care for each other. The great qualities that I saw in them when I took these photos are still very much the same ones I see now that I call them my friends.

Bartlett Family

Lindsey was the first person I met when I came to Houston (well outside of Nathan and his family of course). She's also a Noonday ambassador, and she offered to let me ride along with her to Austin for Noonday's annual conference. I figured, what better way to thank her than to photograph her family. Her family is so sweet and lovely and fun. I didn't really know too much about the area yet at the time, so we did a quick little session in Studepark since it was nearby where we both live. What was especially lovely, was the fact that Lindsey said they didn't have any decent photos of their whole family. It was so fun and special to be able to give them the gift of family photos that showcase all of their different personalities.

Austin | Class of 2015

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to photography Austin's brother, Quentin, and when it came time for Austin to graduate, his mom wanted me to photograph him as well. Working with both brother's has be great. Austin is sweet and laid-back and we were able to quickly capture a full session of images in under an hour (which is exactly how I love to photograph guys). When I asked Austin what he'd like his session to look like, he said that he loves to be in nature and he's a volunteer firefighter and wanted to be able to feature that in some way. We were able to incorporate both of those things in a simple and casual way.

Keenan & Trevor | Wedding

Keenan & Trevor's wedding is one for the storybooks. I mean, they had a Narnia themed wedding, and it snowed! Not just little bits of snow, but the kind of snow where I packed an overnight bag in my car because I wasn't sure I'd be able to make the 40min drive home. They are by far one of the coolest couples I have the pleasure of knowing and photographing throughout their relationship. Their wedding day was filled with fun portraits, so much love and joy from everyone there, and even a snow ball fight. This wedding will be forever my favorite wedding that I've ever photographed.

Wyttenbach Sisters

Photographing sisters is just so much fun! These girls contacted me because they hadn't had photos all together in awhile since they're all of in various directions of work and college, and they wanted to surprise their parents with an anniversary gift. We had a great time wandering around the Lafayette College campus capturing their unique personalities and their sister bond.
